Run Spread Rule – ALL TOURNAMENTS

12 and Under     15/2, 10/3, 8/4

13 and Above     15/2, 12/3,  10/4, 8/5

Time Limits

POOL Game time limits will be 1 hour 40 minutes per game. BRACKET GAME time limits will be 1 hour 40 minutes per game except for the Championship Game which will be played with a 2 hour time limit.  In POOL Games, no new inning will begin after 1 hour and 35 minutes unless the game is tied and the modified California tie-breaker rule shall be used.  Time Limits may be adjusted in the event of inclement weather to assure teams have the opportunity to complete games.

 DURING POOL PLAY ONLY:
If the game ends with the score tied, the game shall continue using a modified California tie-breaker rule.

DURING BRACKET PLAY

If the game ends with the score tied, the game shall play one inning using the normal rules of baseball, if the game remains tied the teams shall use the a modified California tie-breaker rule.

MODIFIED CALIFORNIA TIE-BREAKER:
Each half inning will start with the bases loaded and one (1) out. Each team will continue the batting order from the previous inning, with the three (3) previous batters occupying the bases, with the last batter occupying 1st base, the next batter occupying 2nd base and the 3rd batter occupying 3rd base. The game will continue until a winner is determined.

Example:
The game ends in a 3-3 tie. The visiting team determines the # 4 batter is due up. The team will put the # 3 batter on first, the # 2 batter on second, and the # 1 batter on 3rd. There will be one out in the inning and both teams will play like this until a winner is decided.

Batting Your Roster

Beginning in 2010,  teams will be allowed to bat their roster for qualifying events (non State, Nationals, etc.).   Please note if a team bats their roster you do not have a courtesy runner.  In addition if a player is injured or unable to bat,  the player in that spot will be recorded as an out.

Other Rules

There are NO PITCHING LIMITATIONS; however coaches are strongly urged to use caution and not create a hazardous condition. Metal cleats are allowed in the 13U and 14U age division.

(If a team does not bat their roster) Teams will be allowed to bat 9, or 10 players (EH). Unless declared before EACH game, it will be assumed the team will bat only 9. If batting 10, then the extra player will be considered an EH. The high school re-entry rule will apply to all substitutes. A team may finish the game with ONE less player than they started with; however upon the loss of the second player, regardless of the batting order you have chosen, the game will become an immediate forfeit. If a team only has nine players and loses a player for any reason, an out will be record each time that batter comes to the plate to bat. A team must have at least eight (8) players to start – an out will be recorded for the ninth positions.

14U and Above – Teams may use an EH or DH but not both.  The DH may be for any player in the starting line-up, if the player being DH’ed for enters the batter lineup your DH is gone (and your DH may not re-enter).

A courtesy runner for the catcher and pitcher is optional. The courtesy runner must be a player not currently active in the ballgame. If no legal substitutes remain to courtesy run, YOU HAVE NO courtesy runner.

For all tournament play, there is no infield before the game.

Any runner that does not attempt to avoid contact with a fielder who HAS THE BALL and is waiting to make the tag will be call out and the ball is dead. Any runner CRASHING into a fielder who HAS THE BALL and is waiting to make the tag will be ejected from the game and both teams will be warned. This is a judgment call by the umpire on the field.

The high school obstruction will shall apply, any fielder who does not have the ball and it attempting to block a base shall be called for obstruction. This is a judgment call by the umpire on the field.

Home/Visitor does not determine dugout assignments (i.e. first come first serve).

Home team will be responsible for the official book. Visitors will be required to operate the scoreboard.

A coin flip by the coaches before the umpires arrive at the field before each game will determine the home team. During bracket play the team with the highest seed will be home team.

Upon completion of the game, umpires will return game cards to the pavilion office. Both coaches must sign game cards at the conclusion of the game. Game cards will contain the final scores for that game. Once you sign a game card, you are stating that the information on the card is correct. Any objections to the umpire’s game card will require that both coaches be present with their respective scorebooks. There will be no changes to game cards 15 minutes after the conclusion of the game.

In the event of a protest all decisions made by the Tournament Director (or designate) will be final.
